Counselling and Psychotherapy in Durham and Online

Understanding yourself, your relationships, and your path forward

Welcome to Pax Counselling

Life can present us with many challenges, and it's understandable that at times we might feel overwhelmed, confused and lost. Perhaps something's been troubling you for a while. Or maybe you're facing a difficult situation right now and aren't sure where to turn.

You might be struggling with anxiety, navigating a painful relationship, or carrying something from your past that's affecting your present. Whatever's brought you here, you're taking an important step.

A Safe Space to Explore and Understand

I'm Lixson Cyriac, a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with over ten years of experience supporting adults and couples. I work from a psychodynamic foundation, also drawing on CBT techniques when helpful. As a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, I keep up to date with the latest research in the field.

I work with adults and couples from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with diverse challenges. Some clients need short-term support for a specific issue. Others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns. Together, we'll develop sessions that suit your unique situation.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or questions around identity and spirituality, I'm here to offer you a safe and confidential space where we can explore what's troubling you. More about me

What Happens in Therapy?

Sometimes it's about unpacking the present situation. Other times, it's exploring how past experiences influence the way you approach life now. Therapy isn't about being told what to do. It's a collaborative space where you can think aloud, make connections, and find new ways forward.

As your therapist, I'm here to listen without judgement, to help you understand patterns you might not have noticed, and to support you in making changes that feel right for you. The work is yours, but you don't have to do it alone.

What Brings People to Therapy

Many people come to me struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or questions around self-esteem. I also specialise in supporting those dealing with trauma, self-harm, addiction, OCD, and the complexities of borderline personality disorder.

If you've experienced abuse, are navigating bereavement, managing anger, or working through cultural or spiritual questions, I can offer a space to explore these. I also work with people facing eating disorders, identity issues, phobias, and work-related stress. Whatever you're carrying, we can address it together.

Start a Conversation

Wondering if counselling is right for you? I offer a 15-minute initial consultation at no obligation. It's a chance to talk about what's brought you here, ask any questions, and see if we're a good fit. There's no pressure to commit.
