Meet Lixson Cyriac – Counsellor & Psychotherapist
I trained as a psychodynamic counsellor at Birkbeck College, London, where I also completed my Master's in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy. Before that, I studied psychology and spent years exploring philosophy and theology, subjects that still inform how I think about the human experience.
My work in counselling began over ten years ago, and I've been fortunate to support people in various settings. I spent six years as a counsellor and assessor at a BACP-accredited foundation in London, and I've worked as a student counsellor at Birkbeck College, Westminster University, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I know from my own experience that counselling provides a space to open up and get to know yourself a bit more closely, and that way to live more fully and happily. If you're wondering about your life, facing a difficult situation, or wanting to address something you've been carrying for a long time, I can offer you a safe space to explore it.
My approach is primarily psychodynamic, which means we'll look at how your past experiences and unconscious patterns might be influencing your present. I also draw on CBT techniques when they're helpful. But really, therapy is less about the method and more about the relationship. It's about creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and free to be yourself.
I work with adults and couples from all backgrounds, and I offer sessions in both English and Malayalam.
If you'd like to learn more about how I work or explore whether therapy feels right for you, I'd be happy to hear from you. I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation with no obligation.
